What's going on at Standen

How we have spent the money With the funds donated and raised we have been able to do the following: Improving Access ● Boardwalk in Hollybush Wood to provide better access for visitors and at the same time safeguard the flora and fauna ● Thanks to the recent award from WSCC Community Grant, we will be able to extend the boardwalk further towards the farm track Restoration ● Supporting the continued restoration of the Kitchen Garden by providing materials for a new Fruit Cage to protect the soft fruit from birds ● Waterproofing of the Swimming Pool in the Bamboo Garden ● Restoration and improvement of Rockinghill Wood after many years of management that has damaged this ancient woodland site Nature & Conservation ● Badger Hide for Rockinghill Wood ● Herbs for the Cottage Garden to encourage bees ● Bee Hives for the Kitchen Garden and Orchard Tools & Training ● Bee keeping suits, gloves and other equipment ● Long handled pruning saw and small chainsaw for coppicing and minor tree surgery ● Five pairs of garden shears which can be re-sharpened ● Potting tray, compost scoop, dibbers, and capillary matting trays for the Kitchen Garden greenhouse ● Fruit Press to make juice with windfall apples ● Scroll Saw to cut plywood shapes for children to paint ● Pole Lathe and Shave Horse equipment, plus associated hand tools and training for volunteers Visitor Engagement ● Wood for making Xylophone for Plantation ● Terracotta pots and herbs for the steps in the Kitchen Garden ● Terracotta planters by house front door ● Seating around the stage in the Plantation Barn Project ● Barn building in Hollybush Wood has finished !
